An Empath’s 5 Step Plan; Life Changing EveryDay SelfCare
A invaluable insight into everyday self care which works for theenergy sensitive individuals, or Empaths, who suffer anxiety, depression, migraines and much more.
As an Empath, or energy sensitive person (if you were attracted to this post and don’t quite now why, click here to find out if you’re an Empath) you are told to put up boundaries protection. But boundaries sound harsh; in fact they are often too harsh and means that the only one that really suffers is the Empath.
Here I give you my guide for every day self care, which will change your life, as simply as possible. And I can tell you it works; as I live this and breathe this. I am sat in the trenches with you; I would love to help pull you out, dodge the bullets and infact find not enemy on the otherside, but our Soul Tribe.
Your depression, your anxiety, your anger; may not actually be yours! Mind-blowing right?!
I have worked with so many people who’s illnesses are in fact years of a build up of holding energy for other people; hormonal issues, migraines and headaches, fibromyalgia, ME, Auto Immune Issues; the list is endless.
Identifying yourself as an Empath is only half of it; putting everyday, easy self care is going to get you out the other side.
1) Identify Your Personal Stress or Anxiety trigger(s)
This is a real basic and in itself will change your life. What do manifest on the physical which is your indicator that you aren’t doing well energy wise? For me, headaches/migraines and basic self care goes out the window; like drinking water. My energy often feels thick or heavy. From time to time, I may feel angry. You may feel depressed. You may not want to go outdoors. You may want to fill your mouth with chocolate. Or not wash. Or clean your home. A panic attack, The list is endless.
The important thing is to be mindful and aware and to be in the moment; allow your body to be the wonderful dowser that it is. Listen to the messages that it is giving you. It is starting to struggle and needs help. As soon as you are aware that your trigger is kicking in, I literally want you to sit that cute little bottom down and take 2 minutes. I don’t care where you are or what you are doing; 2 minutes now will make all the difference to the next few weeks and your life.
2) Ask is this mine? If not, return to sender
Your body is the most amazing dowser. As soon as you sit and ask if it’s yours, your body is going to show you it isn’t. You will feel at least a partial release.
For years, I never realised most of what I was holding was others and would own it and heal myself. After all, us Empaths are natural healers. I used to really struggle with this sending back. Especially loved ones; I would heal what I needed in me and send up the rest.
What I realised was that sending back, allows them to heal what they need to. This is the age of Responsibility. And one area is the Empath being responsible for ending the cycle of being the crutch for others. So send it back with no intent. They may make the life changes they need to. They may not. It is not an outcome over which you can have any control..
Just putting the thought out there is enough, but if you want to visualise a bubble of energy coming out of the area which you are holding onto the energy (unless it is obvious it will be your head, as it is a mindset) and blow that gently back to the person. If you want help, ask your favourite celestial being to assist. Feel the release. If it is anger or sadness of someone else you are holding, then you may feel it as you release it. Allow this to happen; do not shy away from the emotion. It is just a sign that your body is releasing.
3) If it is yours, is there something I need to worry about right now?
Our bodies are wonderful dowsers. They read and tell us so much. We haveinstincts within us that at some point Science may explain; but in the meantimewe can read this as we need to.
Ask, if this is something I need to worry about right now, increase thefeeling. If not, decrease it. If you keep the feeling, you know there is somethingyou need to reassess right now. It is normally as simple as saying no tosomething you were about to say yes to, changing your mind about something youagreed to. We all have the right not to do something just because we don’t wantto do it. No is enough.
As someone who is regularly anxious you need to start not just listening to, but reacting to your gut instinct. If you find you are regularly in positionswhere you would rather not be; whether that’s weird situations, people youdon’t feel comfortable around, or a feeling of being taken advantage of.
This is particularly pertinent for those of us that struggle with anxiety, who were either manipulated into or trained into ignoring our gut instinct overpoliteness and a worry of making other people feel bad.
The more you listen to you gut instinct and act, the lesser your anxietywill be generally.
If you struggle to say no, and you are not alone in this, then you need todo some healing work on boundaries and assertion. Please note that self assertionis not the same as aggression. Learning to ask for what you want in your ownparticular way is a vital life skill.
4) If not; Forgive yourself. You’re human and allowed to feel like this; be gentle.
Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that one emotional blip or stressreaction is failure. It isn’t.
If you have been doing work and feel like this is backwards step rememberthe analogy of a growing plant. As the new seeds you have sown grow, they shootand sprout at different rates depending on so many factors. New mindsets andbehaviours work in exactly the same way.
The more they grow the stronger they become. Sometimes a rainstorm willupset the momentum; that’s okay! Rainstorms are part of life! Sometimes a realthunder storm may shake you to the roots! It is not just understandable butperfectly natural to feel a bit wobbly.
So allow yourself you wobble and do what you know works; self care how everthat looks to if it more than a momentary blip is the biggest thing. If youdon’t tend the soil that your new mindset and behaviour is growing in, how onearth do you expect that mindset to do anything?
5) If it’s regular, or not shifting, identify the areas you need to heal & give yourself the time, space & tools to do so
Just because you have been doing healing work in one area, doesn’t mean thatyour job is done. Often we find that by lifting one thing, just like an oldhouse, something else needs doing. Peeling back the wallpaper to find a crackin the wall. If you had just papered over the old stuff, the old crack willhave just shown itself at a later point; and maybe grown to another room!
If you find you are regularly having manifestations of your stress symptoms, then look at what the common theme is. Having a journal and looking at youremotions and what you are going through in a particular day or period is so, soimportant. Rather than noting the weather, note your emotions for the day. Whowere you around; what did you do? And most importantly how did you feel duringthis? You maybe able to find larger themes you still need to work through, ormaybe smaller fine tuning which is just going to make your life easier.
Please let me know how this resonates with you, and how you have found ithelps you.
Love as always
