Reiki Training

Over my nearly twenty years as a Reiki Master and Teacher, I know that Reiki is about far more than simply learning hand positions or gaining a certificate. At its heart, Reiki is about learning to understand energy, yourself, your emotional landscape and the way your thoughts, boundaries, nervous system and life experiences all interact together. That you are the channel for the Universe and your personal healing style is a reflection of that.

Many people are drawn to learn Reiki for their own personal healing journey, fed up of emotional exhaustion, burnout, stress, anxiety, grief, overwhelm or spiritual disconnection. Others have long term conditions themselves or within their household, physical or emotional, which require long term management. Many are interested in their Spiritual journey in various ways and find that Reiki doesn't just amplify the rest of their work, but it also aligns them into their pathway strongly.

You'll learn that Reiki is a powerful tool for grounding, self-awareness, emotional healing and reconnecting with yourself in a deeper and more conscious way. It isn't just a tool which you fall back on time and again in tough times; it shapes your life and you learn to walk with the Universe. Manifesting your life's path.

While Reiki is deeply spiritual in nature, my own teaching approach is also grounded, practical and emotionally intelligent.

My Teaching Philosophy

I naturally lean into the Japanese art of doing everything to the best of your ability; a dedication to mastery for it's own sake. I am deeply passionate about maintaining high standards within Reiki teaching. Reiki is not simply information learned from a workbook or certificate gained at the end of a weekend; it is an energetic practice passed carefully from teacher to student through experience, attunement, guidance and personal growth.

Online learning has opened many doors and made spiritual development more accessible, but there are parts of Reiki teaching which are built around direct human connection, individual guidance and properly held space. For this reason, I teach in small groups or one-to-one settings wherever possible, allowing time for discussion, questions, practical experience and genuine understanding.

The quality and number of attunements given matters greatly; I have seen this with my own eyes. Attunement is not simply a symbolic gesture, but a sacred energetic process designed to strengthen your ability to channel Reiki. Where the Rei, the Spirit or Life Force by other names, is quite literally passed from Master to Student. This produces healers who are confident enough to offer healing which changes lives; not just sit in the Spiritual.

As Reiki has grown in popularity, there has also been an increase in extremely large workshops, rushed qualifications to simply offer Reiki as a professional, rather than understanding your own healing journey is at the core of your work as a healer; you cannot pour from a holey bucket! (excuse the pun!).

Minimal support, lack of one to one attention and courses taught by inexperienced or uninsured practitioners is too common. Students deserve more than this. Choosing a Reiki Teacher should never be based purely on price or speed, but on experience, integrity, ongoing support and whether the teacher’s philosophy genuinely resonates with you.

This is why you will never see me pass out online attunements for Reiki, Reiki 1 and 2 in one weekend, group attunements, any less than four attunements for Reiki 1 and any less than 2 for Reiki 2 or belittle any other healing modality. I won't have a tantrum if you ask for my qualification certifcates, insurance papers or ask if I was taught face to face. I invite that in! Be discerning about who you give your hard earned money to and give your sacred connection over to.

I balance this with ensuring you truly understand your way of healing - it is not just sensing hot or cold, rigid hand positions or using your untrusted gut instinct. As a medium I teach you the same way I teach my Spirital Development students- to truly understand how your personal connection works. To lean into the way that you heal; you are the channel for Source and your life experience and own healing journey flavours the way that you heal others. In fact it is vital to ensuring that there is every type of healer to help every type of person! I teach the basics well, so you don't just run when I let you go, but I encourage you to fly!

Spiritual Draw – Do you genuinely feel drawn to the teacher and their energy, not just their marketing?
Philosophy – Does their understanding of healing and spirituality genuinely resonate with your own values?
Synchronicity – Do their name, work or teachings keep naturally appearing within your life?
Reputation – Are they respected, recommended and spoken of well within the spiritual community? (including online reviews!)
Knowledge & Experience – How long have they been practising, teaching and actively working with clients?
Real-World Practice – Do they actively work within the field they are teaching, not just teach theory?
Teaching Style – Do they teach in a way and environment that suits your personality and learning style?
Workshop Size – Will you receive genuine personal attention, support and space to ask questions?
Quality – Are proper attunements included, is a quality workbook included?
Qualifications & Insurance – Are they appropriately qualified, experienced and fully insured?
Support – Do they offer ongoing support, healing shares or guidance after your workshop?
Pricing – Does the pricing reflect genuine value, experience, support and quality of teaching?
Pressure-Free Booking – A good teacher will allow you time to reflect before committing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Reiki Spiritual to learn?
Yes — Reiki is absolutely a spiritual pathway, though not in a religious sense. Reiki supports you in deepening your connection to yourself, your energy, your intuition and your soul’s path. Throughout your Reiki journey, you will learn how your physical, emotional, mental and energetic systems work together, helping you align more fully with your authentic self and life purpose.

Can Reiki be learned online?
While some parts of Reiki theory can absolutely be discussed online, in my experience Reiki attunements do not always sit well when given via distance. Attunements are a rite of passing on the Spirit and are not simply taught. Physical healing techniques can also be more difficult to properly develop online, as the physical layer of the student is not activated in the same way without an in-person attunement. Many students do not become confident physical healers without direct one-to-one guidance, observation and feedback. Many people who initially learn Reiki online later choose to continue their training face to face, whether with myself or other teachers.

What is the difference between Reiki 1 and Reiki 2?
Reiki 1 focuses on self-healing, understanding energy, healing family and friends, and opening the student as a channel for Reiki energy. Reiki 2 deepens your healing capacity, introduces symbols and distance healing, and allows you to work professionally if you wish.

How long should I wait between Reiki levels?
I encourage students to properly integrate each level before progressing. For students new to me, I generally require a minimum of 6 months between Reiki 1 & 2, and at least 1 year between Reiki 2 & Reiki Master. In my experience, moving too quickly through the levels can sometimes lead to students struggling to fully integrate the Reiki 2 attunement, needing to revisit foundations later, or experiencing significant emotional and life upheaval as their path rapidly realigns. Going from receiving healing for yourself to holding space as a healing guide for others over the course of a single weekend can be a huge shift. There is great value in allowing yourself an apprenticeship period — both for your own confidence and for the trust and reassurance of the clients you may eventually support.

Are your Reiki qualifications insurable?
Yes. Reiki 2, Reiki Master and Reiki Teacher qualifications are professionally insurable. From Reiki 1, eligibility for student insurance may also be available through certain insurers, alongside access to professional Reiki bodies and communities.

Do you offer one-to-one Reiki training?
Yes. All Reiki levels can be taught either in small supportive groups or one-to-one settings for those who prefer a more individual approach.

What should I look for in a Reiki Teacher?
Look for experience, integrity, proper attunements, ongoing support, real-world healing experience and a teaching philosophy which genuinely resonates with you — not simply the cheapest or quickest course available.

Will I receive support after my workshop?
Absolutely. Ongoing support is provided through the student group, alongside access to my Reiki community and healing shares where appropriate. Ongoing mentorship and support are not always included within Reiki training, so I always encourage students to check what level of ongoing guidance and aftercare is provided when choosing a Reiki teacher.
