For the love of Crystals …….. and kids

Rachael loves working with crystals and kids, and has loads of experience of using them with her own children and their varying emotional health needs. An autistic 8 year old and an emotionally expressive 6 year old.

My interest in crystals started when I was a child! I loved the geology behind them; how fascinating it was that something so sparkly, so pretty, so amazing, could be made in the depths of the Earth. Through a combination of Earth and Fire! Magic; alchemy in motion! In fact my dad spent about 20 million quid on the collectable, £1.99 an edition set, so that I could find out more. The fact that I’m sure he enjoyed it too, was just a bonus I’m sure.

And we all know that kids go around collecting sticks and stones like maniacs. Stones with holes in them, stones with crystalline formations and stones which look just plain boring, it’s an addictive habit even my eight year old is yet to fall out of. I was always fascinated by flint. Which was lucky as I live in Hampshire and the place is littered with the stuff. It was magic to strike a bit off the other, maybe get a spark but always get that smell. Flint, in fact being, a highly powerful crystal in its own right, alongside chalk. Another magical stones for any child to dig out the ground; and again abundant where I live. My old back garden was littered with it and the kids were always scrawling on the paving.

And the reason children love crystals is that they know. They KNOW. Not like us, who have forgotten magic and need to remember it again when we start to remember ourselves again. They KNOW why a stone or a crystal is special. It calls out to them. That connection deep in their gut to mother earth and her magic. In fact Tesla put forward many theories about crystals, one of them that he believed crystals were entities in themselves. I for one, agree with him, and to see a child with a special stone or crystal which they want to take into bed with them, makes you wonder if they simply understand that notion themselves.

Crystal therapy is great for all of us. And it is particularly great to encourage in children. Here’s my top ten reasons why:

  1. They’ll never have money for drugs – Seriously. Ask anyone who believes in the magic of crystals. Anyone. You would give your last penny for the shiny crystal calling to you from the shop window. Kids are no different. My kids act like they are in a sweety shop, negotiating HARD how many they can buy. If you get them hooked on these babies, they won’t have any money for bad habits as they get older.

  2. Emotional Balance – crystals are healing; they realign our energy on a cellular energy to release emotional energy we no longer need, and increase the vibration of the cells to where they should be. Every cell in our body vibrates at a certain optimum rate for its job. For more about the basics of healing; please have a look at the science behind healing here. With anti-depressants being given out on an increasingly younger basis, as children can’t cope with the pressures we put on them at school and in their over-complicated and difficult to escape social lives, getting them feeling better, younger, is something that will put them in good stead their whole life.

  3. Healing Toolfor Life – Teaching kids to use crystals at a young age is a skill they can take with them no matter where they go for their whole life. Something they can drop and easily pick up again when the stress of life gets too much.

  4. Emotional Self Understanding. If I had the emotional understanding I give my own children, I would be getting to the core of my issues at 25, rather than 35. Simply knowing what feels good, and what feels bad, is an excellent skill for children to have. Teaching them how to self-care so they do not become more unwell, enabling them to make changes in their life which ensures they live happy lives, is all you want as a parent.

  5. Simple healing – crystals are really easy to use. Like really easy. When I teach kids, I teach based on colour based system and on intuition. There is no attunements, hand positions or whole day courses and months of trying to get your head around it. A decent set of up to 10 crystals and you can start healing straight away.

  6. Fun – sparkly you say? Funny shapes you say? Pretty colours you say? Whether you have a little prince or princess running around like a magpie, or an earth warrior grappling with the grit, there is everything to love about playing with crystals.

  7. Self-Belief – like I say, the biggest way we work with crystals is not learned knowledge, but intuition. A skill not taught in schools, and a skill frowned upon for many years. But with learning to use your intuition and getting an amazing result, teaches you to trust yourself. Adding into that an understanding of self, of what is right and wrong for them personally found through an understanding of their emotions, are all basic recipes for self-belief.

  8. Creativity – all this fun, all this play, all this understanding your emotions through colours, all this joy, is simply a great access way to your imagination. When we tap into our intuitive mind, into our emotional mind, into our imagination we are tapping into our subconscious mind. Where we are also creative. Creativity doesn’t just help with art and music; when you think creatively you tune into your personal way of being creative. You unlock your path and your way forward in life. You learn how to think outside the box and to work your way out of more situations. Creating abundant lifestyles, filled with less stress and you will always find a way forward.

  9. Intuitive lifestyle – how often do you wish you could tune into an intuitive lifestyle more? Many of us struggle under the rules which we were set as children (totally understandable as it was a different time). The most obvious thing is that we would eat better; who else struggles with feeling their full up line? Not just me then? But when we take that further, getting out in nature when we need it as we feel good. Not hanging out with people who make you feel bad, but choosing to be around people that make us feel good about ourselves. Listening to your body and your gut instincts makes your life so much easier all round.

  10. Gentle – trying to get children to talk about emotions they don’t understand, can be difficult and confusing. With crystal therapies, children don’t need to be able to express themselves verbally to get in touch with what is going on inside them. Unlike some therapies, it is not intimidating, weird or worrying. Especially for children on the autistic spectrum and with learning difficulties, this can be unbelievably useful.

I would love to know your thoughts and experiences with the little ones in your life!

Love as always
