Healing with Ego v Healing with the Rei – where are you or others currently healing from? And what’s the problem with that? (3 min read)

How does it feel to heal with your Ego, or with Source, what are the difference and how to stop yourself from falling into the Ego trap. With a channelled writing from Usui himself.

Why and How Ego effects our Healing

We are all beings of Ego; to exist as a human in this world we cannot separate ourselves from our individuality. We would fail to exist if we had no Ego. The key is to understand when we are acting through it and when it is appropriate to.

When posing this question, Lord Usui himself stepped forward and gave me the following words:

The Rei, the energy we work with when healing, also called the Holy Spirit, the Breath, Prana, Chi. It is All Seeing and All Knowing.

To heal is to trust, to stand back and let this All Intelligence flow and ebb and do it’s will. (Just as Usui himself did – hand positions were introduced by Hayashi).

We can assist that, when our intuition speaks to us, when our gut calls. Symbols give greater focus and intent when needed, aiding and supporting the work that the energy is doing. But you must understand that it is the Energy doing the work; not you. You are the All Being who is vital in the chain. The Vessel through which the Universe pours itself. And for that we are eternally grateful.

When we step in the way and do not allow the energy to flow; when we are the knowledge centre from which we focus our healing, you will know.

The Ego is the egocentric from which we often act. If we act from this centre when we are claiming to act in the Highest Good, then it can make do for very messy affairs.

You maybe, and indeed are, the centre of your own Universe, but you are not that of the person laying in front of you.

When you interfere with what you deem is best, rather than allowing the energy to flow and THEN reading the good the energy has done; the energy comes with added bite, or added lamentation, or added claws. It can strip and leave them feeling breathless. You will not move them from their spiritual path, as the greatest good will find another route, but it may cause a crisis or propel their life at a time when it isn’t right. To truly heal is gentility itself. Life, and therefore healing, does not have to be hard or harsh. It is as pure and soft, as the water falling from the spring in June, or the blossom falling from the tree in May.

Remember: all healing has an effect on the physical through to the spiritual and that effects every area of the body and life.

You are the centre of your Universe, so interfere with your own journey all you wish. Step away and allow the Universe to do as it needs to with others.

As I channelled this I felt and the calling in of the energy, by calling in Reiki, or the Breath or anything else you call it, for the highest good of the person sat there. Channel the energy; feel and allow it to flow through you. If you feel drawn to move to certain areas; go there. If you feel drawn to use symbols to direct the energy as you use it; do so. You are working with the highest good and so the healing, along with any symbols or other visualisations you have used, will continue as long as it needs to for that individual.

The key is to stand in the energy and allow it to flow through you. When you are one and connected with it, when you are in that space and have given yourself over to it, when you have submitted your Ego to it, all the work you do will be for the greatest good of that person.

It maybe that you have a friend or client and you think you know what’s best for them. To split up with a partner. To get them to speak up against someone. To change careers. But this is their path and not yours. What you would do in the situation and what they should do are two totally different things.

If you decide to do a healing based on that (and I have had people tell me after this is what they have done!!), how do you know you are right? This person has come to experience and learn totally different things to you. Otherwise you would be them and they would be you. And if you do that, you are acting from your own knowledge; you are not allowing the energy to work and seeing where it goes.

And the beauty of watching and feeling where the energy flows; and discussing this with the client after your treatment, is always enlightening and will help the person sat with you to take their journey forward in a way that is best for them.

I teach those that learn through me the importance of the ‘client consultation’; sitting down with the client and looking at why they are here now? What is going on in their life emotionally? What are the emotions linked to any physical illness they have? So a client looking to move their life forward, say in terms of voicing what they need to with others may come up before a treatment. Or you may find that you do a lot of work on a client’s throat and sacral during the treatment itself for example. Expressing themselves, self understanding and empowerment. You can let the client know how the energy moved and flowed. Let them know where you were drawn or where the energy was needed the most. It maybe that the next time the client sees you they can tell you that it helped but they need something more this time. They would like something drastic as they need change in their life in a way they are desperate for. This is the client’s choice and not something you decide during a treatment alone.

The intent is set through the discussion; it maybe a stronger treatment than you are used to but the Energy has heard and responds accordingly. The beauty being that you again just need to let the energy flow and watch what it does. Allow your gut instinct and even the physical movement of your hands and arms to be led by the All Knowing energy (you are stepping into the realms of trance healing if you get into that space which is fascinating; an area I’ve explored before; An Exploration into Trance Healing Blog).

The Ego steps in when we decide during a treatment, or even against the individuals wishes (again I’ve witnessed this!) that we know what’s best. And that involves making a judgement that the way this person’s life is going is wrong or that they are making a mistake.

It’s one thing making an observation, looking at someone and think that you couldn’t do that or live like that. We all do that and it’s a great tool for checking that we’re still headed in the way we should be. Should we be living more like that person looking at how happy they are or is the way I live my life best for me? And allowing the person who you’ve observed to continue on their journey with love. Accepting them and either choosing to be in their life or accepting them and choosing not to be in their life.

A client puts their trust in you during a treatment; they are in a very vulnerable position. So there is a huge amount of responsibility and respect that goes into faciliting a treatment for them. Our duty is not to let that responsibility go to our head!!

Of course taking this outside of a treatment scenario is a very interesting one.

How often is your advice for others or actions for others based on what you think is best for them? Rather than accepting them and working for their highest good. Are there areas where you’re too invested in the outcome?

This is a struggle for all of us; believe me!!

I’d love to hear from you.

What are your experiences? How do your actions reflect this? Are you thinking about changing anything in how you give treatments or react in life?

Love as always

Rachael x
