Sound Healing; a deeper look. 5 min read.
In my last blog I spoke about sound healing’s benefits, why it works and why sound healing works, and the frequencies of the Solfeggios. In this blog I intend to delve deeper into the subject in my own personal way, including using the Historical Sacred Seven Vowels of the Ancients and give you some tips on how to use it as part of your own healing sessions. I will give another blog about easy ways to incorporate sound healing into your lifeand the different types of sound healing.
When I come to work with anything now, I know that my gut and Synchronicity are the ways the Universe speaks to me; this is the way we know we are doing what our soul really wants.
Sound healing is an ancient and beautiful art; it has been used for thousands of years. Let’s be clear here; the information I am giving here is not a standard way of working with sound healing.
And for me, going back to our old knowledge is essential with complementary therapies. There is so much knowledge which has been lost and is in the process of being understood again, now. And this is one of those areas; specifically the information I am going to talk to you about here is falls into that category of being almost lost. What I share with you today, has taken me a lot of research and personal practice.
Where as today we need to know the reasons why therapies work, and for very good reasons when it comes to health and quacks, in the ancient times it was for more accepted that it worked; why would we do anything else? And for them (in fact you only need to go back to the 1600’s for this attitude to be true still) that science and the spirit, the arts and logic were very much one. One supported the other.
Science is catching up again thankfully the work done in quantum physics. Please have a look at my logical blog on healing here.
I’ll also explore the placebo effect in a blog and will put in links here when it is available. Please subscribe to my feed if you’d like to see these when they come out. Link on right on the desktop and beneath for your mobile.
If you had a look at my previous blog about Sound Healing, the basics of how it works, then you’ll understand that I stumbled across my way of working, as I normally do. The Universe showing us our paths as it always does through chance, synchronicity and our gut instinct.
The Seven Vowels
So I was drawn to working with the Seven Vowels. When I first did my training I was convinced I had read about them in my manual. When I went back to write an essay I couldn’t find it! So I fell down an online rabbit hole, done lots of reading and never looked back since!
They are beautiful! And they spoke to me on so many levels. Below is a list of them but they are quite literally the Alpha to the Omega. The link between heaven and earth. And that link is us!!! We are the magic that binds the dimensions together. We are truly amazing. And using this vowel system you are accessing that magic.
The Ancient Greeks used these, and as you will have read in my previous blog. Names such as Pythagorus are synonymous with these systems. The Ancient Egyptians also used these in their healing chambers within the pyramids and other temples. They would have been chanted in a group. And when you chant these in a group, as I do at my sound healing experience workshops, the feeling is overwhelming.
The key is for all of the seven vowels to be chanted at the same time in a range of voices. So the larger the group the better.
Something I find is that the wonderful ladies of the world tend to be more drawn to this work, alongside the odd amazing gent. We have discussed several times at workshops that with more men to balance up the range of voices within the group, it would add a whole other dynamic to the healing experience.
I can only imagine what it must be like for you to have about 30 people, all of different genders and voice types, all singing different parts of the Seven Vowels system!
Here are the seven vowels and their chakra:
A ; alpha, aA ; alpha, a – root E ; epsilon, short eE ; epsilon, short e – sacral H ; eta, long eH ; eta, long e – solar plexus I ; iota, iI ; iota, i – heart O ; omicron, short oO ; omicron, short o – throat Y ; upsilon, uY ; upsilon, u – third eye Ω ; omega, long o ; omega, long o – crown
Sit in the energy, or a meditative state, place your hands or focus your attention on your chakras, and chant the sounds in a way which feels right for you. Your voice is at the right tone to heal you; there is no such thing as a bad voice or bad tone in voice sound healing!
I have recently changed the way I work with the chakras and each chord, due to some recently channelled information on planets and the chakras. So if this does not feel right go with what resonates with you.
You’ll be drawn to use them if you are drawn to the Ancient Civilisations; particularly Greece and Egypt. The likelyhood is that your energy has been there before and you are not only drawing on the magic of these sounds but also the power from a potentially pretty awesome previous life. Please have a look at my blog on previous lives if you’re interested in previous lives.

There is also a Vedic system, which is more widely used, and works around the OM you can use. Please do some research into that if the OM, or Ancient India resonates with you.
A Word Of Warning – there are certain fear vibrations you need to stay away from when healing. I don’t like banging on about negativity too much, but please do your own research into why Lennon and McCartney used changed the tuning of their music. If you are working with tools or using proven chants that I have discussed here, it is all good. But in passing out the sound of your voice you are passing out your own personal vibration.
Your Voice Is An Outward Expression of Your Vibration When you heal others with your voice, you are literally passing out your vibration; where your healing journey is sat at that time. If you are psychically ill with a cold or virus, or feeling out of sorts, you should not be using your voice to heal others. Your vibration will be low. Equally if you are still sat in a place of fear, or working through some personal healing issues, and plenty of us working with others will have issues we are working through at different times, it is more important than ever to use a different technique when working with other people.
You must ask your own Ego to step to one side, and you must work from a space where you are not trying to heal, not trying to impress anyone, where you are channeling a higher energy, giving yourself over to it and just letting it flow. You can only do that when your mind is in the right place, when you are grounded and when you are properly connected up!
I would also highly recommend formal training. I am all for working with instinct, but I am balanced and grounded. We have had healing and ‘Sorcerer’s’ Apprentices for thousands of years. Get some decent, basic training in order to give you a strong basis from your own instincts to flourish. It maybe that you disagree with some of what you have been taught, and when you look into it logically, with an understanding for energy, or in this case frequencies, you find your instinct to work differently makes sense. I am all for the balance of good knowledge balanced with a find instinct.
The only exceptions to this maybe when working in a group. The group dynamic will bring your vibration up, even if it is only temporary as you still continue to do your healing work on yourself.
I initially used the Seven Vowels for self healing; if you’re used to sitting down and doing a Reiki self, or similar, heal it’ll cut your healing time down by half. Similar with meditation where you use the time to connect.
I’ve always said to students that self healing and meditation are one in the same; just sitting in the energy is a beautiful healing experience in itself. The energy flowing where it needs to. If you then couple that with some focus on your chakras through sound, you can create a really effective healing session with some basic knowledge. Which is the beauty of working with sound. It is simple and highly, highly effective.
I teach out my style sound healing through a workshop. I will be looking to add a grounded, Shamanic healing element to future workshops, through drum work. It is really important that energetically and physically we are a balance between the earth and the heavens. And the Shamanic work really brings the Earth vibration through. Please have a look at my site to see when my next event is coming up!
Love as always!
