Tarot; my story & Top card reading tips

My journey, how learning to read cards has changed my live and my top 5 tips on reading cards that you won’t see elsewhere!

Tarot was literally the first step I took into my spiritual development. It felt totally natural & seemed obvious after acknowledging that I did feel and know more than I had taught myself not to share.

After getting hooked on series such as the much missed Colin Fry’s shows & Jonathan Edwards, I bought cards & books. Reading for friends and family; not quite knowing if they are being kind or if I was as accurate as I was told.

When I eventually, after a couple of years, found like minded people, I found I wasn’t making it up. I was believed & supported; the readings I had given were good! Eventually being pushed to read for the public; my teacher asking me to help at a stall where we were doing healings and readings. Her halfway through a healing when someone asked for a reading. She looked over the top her glasses; ‘you’re reading’. A monumental turning point in my life; a queue out the door! Even more people waiting than the only other, far more experienced reader at the fair.

It felt like THE most natural thing I had ever done; for me there was only one way forward. In that moment, on that evening, I really felt like I was magical! I had made it; I was as special as I always hoped!

These cards, my deck, have stayed with me. The gift they give, keeps giving.

They have led me down many paths, each one beautiful & fascinating. They guide me and others; they bring abundance in all things.

One of the greatest tools I have apart from myself.

My cards have always brought me abundance.

Messages of guidance.

My gateway to me looking for other people truly on my wavelength; my soul tribe!

And money; as readings and as a teacher.

I’ve always walked my own path & as my relationship with my cards developed, so did my relationship with my own inner guidance and what I knew to be wrong and right. Not the obvious stuff; but the detail, the wisdom.

As a reader knowing what are your personal hang ups & making sure they don’t flavour the reading so that the true message is obscured is vital. Allowing true wisdom to permeate through everything you give your sitter /client is vital; something I always teach.

That part for me was easy; but it isn’t always easy to look at yourself with outside perspective.

I learned with time that I channel when I read; this is hard understanding when you are learning as I just ‘spoke’ things. The cards would not look as they were supposed to or parts would stand out to me.

Here are my top 5 tips for understanding how you work and how to really read cards:

  1. Connection; if you are aware of your connection before anything else, knowing things or feeling things, you are using your psychic connection to connect to the sitter before you’ve looked at the cards. You will be able to offer twice as much reading information to the client, as you can use both skills!

  2. Themes Across the Spread: read themes across the spread together. Take the whole spread of cards you have just laid out in first. Themes of Courtly cards, suits or Higher Arcana should be read as though there is a string connecting them.

  3. Stand Out: What stands out on the card for you? What is brighter, more brilliant or do you see first? Something on the card looks nothing like it should do for some odd reason? Use the symbolism of the part of the card you are looking at and interpret it for what it represents for you

  4. How You Deal Is of No Consequence: you will get people tell you to sit and wait for a while before choosing, to allow your sitter to choose, to allow only you to choose, to let the sitter rub the deck, to feel the energy and see what you are drawn to, to shuffle and see what falls out, to cut the deck and take from the top or bottom. It is on no consequence! Do what you want to do; your personality, your way of behaving, even your own understanding of how energy works means that the way you feel like dealing, is the right way for you!

  5. Voice vibration is important: you shouldn’t be sat there asking a huge amount of questions, but getting a client to talk out loud, affirmative, or a maybe or a I’m not sure even, is important. Just as important as when you start talking and you feel the energy flow starting and one word brings the next word. The vibration of your voice is energy, and it draws more energy forward as it flows, making the reading more energetic and accurate!
