What Being an Authentic Teacher Means to Me. (2 min read)
The Reiki journey which has lead Rachael to being the kind of teacher she hopes will inspire, guide & empower her students!
As some of you know, when I came across Reiki I kinda fell into it. My master convinced me I could heal; even though it seemed inconceivable to me at the time. And so she did the same thing with Reiki Teacher Level. I kinda had no choice. It’s time! (‘is it? F**k!’ 😂).
And when I started teaching, just as with the healing, I used to help my master a lot. It was my hobby. A hobby that I loved. But a hobby non the less.

But I need rewind slightly. I’d always enjoyed teaching. I did Catholic Sunday school for the little ones from about 14 years old. And for the First Holy Communion gang, I taught the classes. I loved it. And I’d spoken so many times about teaching. But I’d so many older, wiser people tell me it wouldn’t be what I thought it was. I would hate it in the end. And although I often thought through my options regularly in that arena, I never had the balls to do it. That advice always ringing in my ears.
As an adult I realise that those experienced people were talking about how they hated teaching. They. I know now, I actually would have loved it. As my current experience tells me so. But with one door shut, another door opens as they say!
So falling in love with teaching, around Reiki, wasn’t that hard. I adore expansion, growth, learning and understanding. And I adore it just as much for me as anyone else.
When my time came to change my career I took it with both hands, having told Spirit for many years when I had the opportunity to make this love, this passion, my work, I would do exactly that.
When I learned Reiki they gave more handouts then workbooks. Don’t get me wrong they were good in comparison to everything else that was out there. But my corporate background coupled with a changing industry meant I wanted to take it to the next level.
Don’t forget that not that long ago nothing, NOTHING, was written down. The language of Reiki considered too sacred. Only a few years previously there would have been NO workbooks.
And so I did, exactly what I tell anyone who does their Reiki Teacher Level through me to do. I rewrote my workbooks entirely. Had a few friends (well one really) to bounce my ideas off. And a bit off the internet. The current explosion of information wasn’t around at that time. So a bit of digging and a lot of time, trusting myself and my connection.
I’ve done that again once since. Completely rewrote my books. As I’d changed, so had my teaching. And it was important to recognise that. I don’t get my workbooks professionally printed for a reason (tried it once!). My workbooks need to reflect current circumstances and my current understanding. Current. Not six months ago. Plus I’m all for feedback so that I can adjust my workbooks into something that really works. So a huge amount of time, energy and procrastination goes into those books!
Believe me, the nerves are still there. It’s good as it shows me my passion to get it right is still there. So expect nerves when you think about taking your teacher level. Invite nerves!! They are speaking volumes to you. Just work through them one step at a time, showing the Universe you want this as much as you know you do; so much you’re prepared to work through the nerves.
Your teaching, just as the same as your healing, is a complete reflection of your energy. When it comes to this arena of work more than any, it must reflect you. Not me.
Those of you who have done your Reiki through me know that I encourage you to develop your own style. Reiki is simply channeled energy. You being the channel. And so you flavour the energy with your personality.
That’s why in every workbook there is a HUGE section on raising your own vibration. Why I bang on about self healing so much.
The more you get back to your authentic self, the better a healer, and teacher you’ll be.
A good teacher doesn’t hold your hand when you can walk (unless it’s a wobbly period) or tie their apron strings around you.
Neither does that teacher take your cash and kick you out the nest.
That teacher encourages you to love and heal yourself more fiercely then you do your clients. That teacher gets you to answer your own questions. That teacher gets you to look at yourself with perspective. Otherwise they are not doing their job.
Otherwise it becomes either a business transaction or an enslavement. And Reiki is neither of those things. It is the balance in between.
Reiki is the glue that bonds the Universe together. It is Spirit in its ultimate. The father figure which doesn’t control but sets it’s children free. It’s the Mother that sits with you and reads but knows when it’s time to kick you out into the sunshine to play.
So when I teach, I hold all of that in mind.

Long term support so you are not alone (those of you who have done your Reiki elsewhere will know that’s not standard) but it’s in a group so that mumma can have a cuppa without being disturbed all the time, and encouraging you to question yourselves or just bloody trust yourself when you need to. As I trust you. Each and every one of you.
You’ll get all of my workbooks so that you can teach others when you take your Reiki Teacher level with me, all my latest updates when you learn Galilean Healing. (again I don’t need to talk about other teachers, you’re not going to get that much help generally!). But my teacher manuals are not copy and paste for a reason. Copy and paste is boring!! It’s a cheat! It’s not allowing you to step into your authentic self as a teacher.
Use me for inspiration; what I do that you like? What I do that you don’t like? Allow me to guide you, positively or negatively.
And allow your work, whether healing or teaching, to be an absolute reflection of you. Otherwise, quite frankly, I ain’t doing my job!
Love as always
