Why Energy Workers, Witches And Healers Aren’t Being Choosy Enough About their Tools
In the age of responsibility, and working within the 3 fold rule, we need to think about the ethical and energetic quality of the tools we work with.Your tools are a major part of the energy of your work, and should reflect the quality of your work.
For too long we have been haphazardly picking up our energetic and spiritual candy like kids in a sweet shop. But maybe we need to start worrying about how these sweet treats may look pretty, but are rotting your soul, . . . urrrrr I mean teeth!
I’m focusing on essential oils here. But the theories I am looking at apply no matter what you are looking at.
You are using the energy of a product. And yes, you maybe able to cleanse a product for use, but that still wipe clean the crimes of child labour, poorly controlled mines or rare or precious commodities? The energy still lingers, even if you are unaware of choose to ignore it. And in the age of responsibility, this is really biting Westerners, used to getting what they want at low, low prices, in the backside at last. If we conscious when looking at clothes, we need to be uber conscious with our energetic tools.
Your Tools are a Total Reflection of your Work!!
Don’t get me wrong, I have had the attitude of it’s ONLY for magical work or a blessing in the past. And I have done a complete 180 u turn on that opinion!
Crystals mined with in appropriate care for miners, as well as crystals which are being depleted from the Earth. Is it right that the Mother has nothing left for her? Look for crystals in abundance, (calcites for example) or from fair trade sources. The latter I struggle with myself due to information; but is one I am on a mission to find a fair route! Are they dyed or natural?
Herbs and herbal teas used for their medicinal uses and magic, also need to be thought about strongly. If you are using them in manifestation rituals and spell work, are these happy plants which have great energy to give your work? Look at non plastic, non bleached tea bags or loose. Medicinal grade teas – Clipper and Pukka brands are my top picks, as well as buying loose from Woodland Herbs or Baldwins.
Are your oracle cards or books produced in a sweat shop somewhere in Asia? Or written by someone who is morally inept? Remember that the energy in the images is that of the artist? Does the channeller of the information on the cards seem to have a deep and authentic connection to what they are writing about?
Santo wood and frankincense for example is not being managed properly at all. If you aren’t buying Palm Oil products, does that align with still buying other tools? The management of Frankincense was one of the major reasons I fell in love with doTerra products. Not taking it away to grow ethically in cooler environments. But working with local farmers, to quite rightly keep the money in traditional, not corporate hands. And also keeping it in a climate which is going to produce the best quality, active ingredients. Sounds like a winner to me.
I also want to point out that Organic doesn’t always mean better. You can still have synthetic ingredients on your product list, and can even use some non natural pesticides! Plus the hoops that small farms have to go through and the cost can be extortionate! I do prefer to go for organic, to have less harmful chemicals and purer products, but, depending on where I have got it, it isn’t an essential for me.
Advice I give is RESEARCH!!!!! Take a conscious part in your buying journey and spend 2 mins checking what you are really buying into.
Focus on Essential Oils
Since the 90s the quality of essential oils has deteriorated, due to their popularity and companies looking to take advantage of the market. This is due to how amazing they are at working with your energy, your emotions and your physical health!!! And everyone wants a bit of the action. And as cheap as possible!
Here are the top list of things to be aware of when looking at oils. Be aware there is no legal labelling for essential oils, so ensure that you work with a company who you can trust. Some of this will not just be hidden on the labels, it doesn’t even need to be declared!
Sythentic – where the functioning components of the oil are produced in a lab and layered with a scent. These will not work for energetic purposes, as they are not natural. Energetically they will not align and physically the lipid reaction of the two cells working together will not work.
Replacement – something labelled as one oil and 100% essential oil, maybe in fact be a cheaper replacement oil with some of the labelled oil in. This happens a lot with more expensive oils; Lavender and Lavendin often have this issue, as well as Cassia and Cinammon. All are beautiful oils in their own right, but you want to know what you are getting so you may use it appropriately.
Medicinal Grade – you maybe able to get hold of many oils which are made from poorer, food grade herbs and plants. And while food grade are perfectly safe to ingest, the quality of the crop is not good enough for it to have enough medicinal benefits. They do not contain enough of the active ingredients to ensure that the oil is effective for health. The difference between something which flavours and smells nice over something that can help. This is really relevant with herbal teas as well.
Processes – much like most other industries, labelling laws do not dictate that chemicals used in the processing of oils or anything else, is labelled. Solvents and other chemicals are regularly used when producing oils, for a quick and effective yield; especially with florals due to the expense and delicacy of the petals. But the chemicals will mean that not only is your body absorbing chemicals you don’t want, you may also struggle to get the best use of the oil, as the process of our cells absorbing the essential oils, does not happen as effectively. This also gives people headaches often when they diffuse oils.
Certified Therapeutic Grade – not many oils will be certified therapeutic. This ensures that the oils have been tested by an outside body and are of a good enough standard to make a therapeutic effect on the body and energy. Looking at the quality of the crop, how the crop is produced and maybe cut with other oils or sythentic oils and how it is stored and handled can all have an effect on the therapeutic grade.
Supply Chain: In a recent blog I read, out of 10, only 1 essential oil tested was unadulterated with something other than the essential oil it was labelled as. An essential oil provider having an end to end process for their oils are essential. Remember what happened with the horse meat scandal? Poorer communities looking for gain may make choices which you may not like for your end product. Look for a provider which has end to end contact, field to process to bottle, for their oils.
FairTrade: How is your supplier working with the local population and farmers who grow the crop, and ensuring that they get a fair deal and are supported for long term, rather than just seasonally?
Ethical – is your oil supplier ensuring that the plants they get their oils from, are grown in a way to support the local environment? And not adding to local issues such as deforestation or depletion of endangered plants. And rather than growing plants in areas where they do not flourish to overcome this (and as such aren’t as effective due), working with the local community to ensure that the traditional farmers are supported to work ecologically in future, and that traditional oils are not taken out of the hands of locals, and passed over to large corporations instead.
The last two are particularly important for energetic workers. If the energy that went into producing your oils is not great, if farmers are working for slave labour wages or the spirit of the plant you wish to work with is being exterminated from the planet, this will detrimentally effect the energy of the oils you are working with.

I work with DoTerra oils, as they fit all of the above and all of the above are important for me. If you would like to buy DoTerra oils, they work exclusively through small businesses such as mine. Available globally, feel free to book in to have a chat with me here about it, or to have a look at when one of my workshops are coming up to find out more, have a look here!
