Are you you being pushed or being taught to fly? Stepping into yourself when you feel like you’re in freefall (5 min read)
The biggest lesson you can ever learn is that you can jump out of the nest and soar! How the best teachers are ones that help you to walk your own path and not follow theirs.
I’ve accidentally tripped over a message that I would normally have liked to have given at Easter. Because, you know, I like it all nice and neat on the timeline. (Interesting as I don’t believe in the constraints of time and space . . .)
I’m currently on maternity leave. And I’ll be coming back very part time after Christmas. Before I went away I had a lot of people asking when I’d be back. Which is a beautiful compliment. But a compliment for which I had no answer.
I’ll be back when it’s right for me.
There’s no firm answer. And actually that’s exactly how it should be in these things.
Our journeys revolve totally around ourselves. And by that I don’t mean being unaware of the impact you have on others (well that maybe your journey and if it is I’m sure you won’t mind if I side step you 😉 ). What I mean is that if you do what is best for yourself with love, it will automatically be the best for others. People may not always like it. It may throw people for a while as they get used to it. But it will always be for the best.
Believe me! And that has taken me a while to get my head round.
Before I went away I did a lot of prep for others. Lots of notice as to when I was going. Recommendations left on every page directing people to guidance from others; individuals who resonated with me and therefore I felt would resonate with students and clients. To group support pages for others to reach out to the community for help when needed. I take seriously that others look to me for guidance. And in taking on roles of teaching it’s only right that I should do. And when I looked at what I’d done, I was pleased.
I’ve been bubbling about the community, which is nice as the pressure isn’t on me to provide anything more than normal support. And it’s come up about people needing support and muddling their way through while I’m off. No finger pointing but genuine questions, guidance and direction asked for.
But the most amazing thing to come out is that people have had to use their own inner guidance. Some have had experiences which they would rather not have done. And that pains me. But equally I’ll be grinning from ear to ear when they see what they gained from that experience and step further into their own power.
So there’s been a few discussions about people needing me.
I said to a friend this morning ‘but what if I was dead?’.
And this got me thinking. What if I was no where to be seen? What if actually the best course of action for me personally was to step away from everything and never come back?
On one hand the Universe would align itself. Those that needed guidance and knowledge passed to them would step into that place.
And then I considered something which has come up in conversation a couple of times recently.
The best teachers are not those that simply answer your questions or encourage you to stay within the safety of their nest.
Looking at teachers like Jesus (Joshua) or Lao Tzu, they are the teachers that throw the question right back at you.
If you haven’t read the lost Gospel of Thomas, do!! It’s a beautiful collection of sayings of Jesus. And what struck me was how many were questioning the question. How many were a question in response.
“The disciples said to Jesus: “Tell us how our end will be.”The disciples said to Jesus: “Tell us how our end will be.”The disciples said to Jesus: “Tell us how our end will be.”Jesus said: “Have you already discovered the beginning that you are now asking about the end?Jesus said: “Have you already discovered the beginning that you are now asking about the end?Jesus said: “Have you already discovered the beginning that you are now asking about the end?“
These great teachers teach you how to answer your own questions. How to truly latch onto your own inner wisdom; to learn how to have faith in no one but yourself.
It then occurred to me that Jesus was doing exactly what I’d nonchalantly thrown out to my friend. He was preparing his circle for his death.

Then I came across this!!
“The disciples said to Jesus: “We know that you will depart from us. Who (then) will rule over us?”The disciples said to Jesus: “We know that you will depart from us. Who (then) will rule over us?”The disciples said to Jesus: “We know that you will depart from us. Who (then) will rule over us?”Jesus said to them: “No matter where you came from, you should go to James the Just, for whose sake heaven and earth came into being.Jesus said to them: “No matter where you came from, you should go to James the Just, for whose sake heaven and earth came into being.Jesus said to them: “No matter where you came from, you should go to James the Just, for whose sake heaven and earth came into being.“
Jesus needed to leave. He needed to die. Maybe for no other reason then we were supposed to lead and guide ourselves. After all, weren’t the group given the Gifts of the (Holy) Spirit after he had died? This was always the plan and he and the group knew it. Just as had happened to John the Baptist before him.
There were others who he recommended. Just as John had passed the mantle to Jesus. Teachers recognising each other as true teachers; the ones who truly got it (interesting that this is James and not Peter and the second time James’s name has come up, so another area of synchronicity I need to look into).
But fundementally he was teaching others to guide themselves.
Teaching others that the knowledge of the Universe lay in their own souls and they just need the self belief and the right guidance to access it.
No one needs anyone else.
No one needs me.
We like to have others around. They make our lives more joyful and beautiful.
But we must learn that the only one we need is us.
The only one who’s opinion matters is our own.
The only person who really knows what is best for us, is us.

Coming back to my very first point. I have no answer 😉
Saying no to a teacher or questioning their advice is a truly powerful moment. And a beautiful thing for any teacher to behold. As it means you’re doing your job. It means that the you’re nudging them out of the nest just as you’re supposed to do.
To enable them to teach others to do the same. And so on. And so forth.
To spread ‘the Word’. How else is it supposed to happen?
So teachers, push your children gently out the nest with love before they wrestle themselves free.
Children, take the scary opportunities for self guidance with gusto.
You are your greatest teacher.
And the only path to get there is through your own healing journey; through recognising that you are the loving centre of your own Universe.
Love as always
